Timeless Transitional Pieces; Universal Works AW22 | Wellgosh

Universal Works is back with its first drop of Autumn/Winter 2022, featuring transitional pieces that can be dressed up or down depending on which motive you find yourself at. Wellgosh has been proud to stock Universal Works for quite some time now, and from our previous experience as an independent fashion business in the Midlands, we have quite a few things in common.

David Keyte, the designer, director and co-founder of the company launched the first collection in 2009 with the aim of creating honest clothing that championed a good fit and understated design; all from his kitchen table. Keyte’s inspiration is taken from his upbringing, growing up in a working-class family in the 70s and seeing his father and uncle take pride in their daily workwear and mixing it up with their weekend best.

Keyte went from a sign-writers apprentice in the 80s, to working for the likes of fashion brands Maharishi and Paul Smith, gaining 30 years of experience working with highly regarded designers and honing his craft. This combination of influences of vintage and contemporary menswear has led Universal Works to release durable, stylish and consciously-crafted items using small-scale production with trusted factories in the UK and overseas.

The latest collection features a classic pocket t-shirt, half-zip and crewneck sweatshirts, two cardigans, a liner jacket, workwear jackets and a choice of cargo or straight-leg trousers; perfect for some layering up options and longer lower-body options now Summer is fading.

Shop Universal Works online here, and in-store at our Leicester, Nottingham and Birmingham stores.

Wellgosh love.
