We’ve been waiting with bated breath for the latest collection from Nanamica and have not been disappointed. Eiichiro Homma, whose previous works include the Japanese sportswear giants Goldwin, techwear enthusiast and 90s favourite Helly Hansen and the iconic fashion division of The North Face, Purple Label, has been creating timeless and understated pieces that are as performance-driven as they are style-conscious for his brand Nanamica since 2003. His co-designer, Takashi Imaki, helped to develop Nanamica into the brand we know today, using the experience he gained when bringing the American sportswear brand Champion to Japan, making the understated pieces a vital part of the country’s casual wear staples. The pair’s fusion of heritage-inspired clothing with cutting-edge technical fabrics can be seen in their latest collection as pictured. We’ve taken four stand-out pieces to build this outfit, paired with a beautiful South2 West8 bag and some classic Danner boots for good measure.
Starting with the outer layer, the 2L Gore-Tex Cruiser Jacket is a waterproof coat based on the ECWCS GORE-TEX® jacket worn by the US Army, reimagined for modern life in a sleek, boxy silhouette. The jacket features a pure polyester outset shell infused with GORE-TEX®, with a cotton and COOLMAX® blended inner lining, decorated with a timeless check pattern. The Cruiser has a full zip fastening, with a press-stud placket concealing two small zippered pockets. Two large front pockets ensure plenty of room for your smaller items, with a drawstring waist, adjustable hood and press-stud cuffs.
As a cosy mid-layer, the pullover sweater in Khaki is crafted from a rich Mohair, Nylon and Wool blend and a streetwear-friendly oversized fit based on fleeces from the early 90s. Other details include a press-stud half fastening and brown trims.
For the lower layer, the 5 Pocket Denim Pants in Indigo Bleach provide an ideal everyday option, with a recycled polyester construction wrapped in cotton, finished with a light indigo bleach, seamless outer sides, a gusseted inseam for a comfortable range of movement and naturally age with repeated wear for that worn-in look.
