The “Zig Kinetic” is the latest collaboration from model, rapper, fashion mogul and a key member of the A$AP Mob, A$AP Nast. His style has always been hard to pinpoint, drawing inspiration from various subcultures between the ‘70s and ’90s and his mum who, in an interview on the A$AP Mob website, recalls “was one of those ghetto girls in like, the ‘80s and ‘90s”…” That particular style or look just kind of always followed me as well”. This vast array of influences has no doubt fueled his imagination when it comes to his designs, and has seen Nast collaborate with sportswear giants Converse, and the previous collaboration with Reebok saw the CL Legacy become a must-have silhouette in 2021, inspiring Nast to drop the Zig Kinetic.
The Zig Kinetic comfortably rides the waves of the Gorpcore technical & hiker trend, featuring a chunky Vibram sole providing supreme grip, toggle laces, a red mesh upper with durable suede overlays and a warm borg fleece tongue. The yellow Reebok logo pops perfectly against the red & black webbed mesh upper, with yellow stitching throughout the design, with a flash of purple in the form of a heel logo. A bungee cord at the heel makes slipping the shoes on a breeze, with a woven heel tab displaying the “NST2” collaborative logo.
Although the Zig Kinetic features a vibrant colourway, they’re actually incredibly easy to style with most outfits, from sweatpants to formal wear; as shown in Nast’s woodland lookbook shoot. Our predictions? This unique silhouette isn’t going to hang around, so save the date of 29/10/21 to avoid disappointment.
