03/04/21 sees the legacy of Nike’s continued partnership with Skepta continue. We have been privileged to be a part of this collaboration since it’s carnation back in 2017, when Skepta reworked the Air Max 97 with colours and materials that pay homage to a kick from his past, the Tuned Max 99.
Since then, Skepta has worked his magic on the understated Air Max BW (Nike’s cult classic 1991 Air Max silhouette that regularly sits in the shadow of it’s elder sibling, the Air Max 90), fusing his love for the ’97 (and the sole unit) with the upper of the BW. He also played a major part in the bring back of the Nike Air Max Deluxe and the Nike Shox in 2018 and 2019 respectively.
This brings us up to date, 2021, and this year Skepta freshens up the Air Max Tailwind V, reworking this futuristic looking early 2000’s model with a fresh new colour way inspired by the wings of a butterfly. The inspiration doubles up as not only a great way to colour a kick, but also a nod to the continual adaptation of both the brand and artist.
Alongside the SK Air Max Tailwind V sits a cohesive tracksuit story with a matching bucket hat and colour blocked side panels to tie back in to the SK Air Max Tailwind V’s iridescent blue colour way.
To celebrate the release of the latest Nike x Skepta collection, we asked our good friend and a DJ that needs no introduction in the world of Grime, Logan Sama, to put us together another Shop Sounds Mix (check our Soundcloud to freshen up your playlist) that celebrates the influence the Skepta has had on the scene since day dot.
