Brain Dead X Sergio Tacchini | Wellgosh

This season, the subculture-obsessed creative collective and contemporary streetwear label Brain Dead join forces with the heritage tennis brand founded by the Italian tennis champion of the same name, Sergio Tacchini for an eye-catching and refreshing collection of pieces that are ideal on and off the court. The athletic brand founded in 1966 was formed to represent authenticity, craftsmanship and style whilst adding bursts of colour to tennis clothing which had predominantly been an all-white uniform. The brand found worldwide fame through its collaborations with other tennis pros, including John Mcenroe, Pete Sampras and Martina Navratilova to name but a few. In the late ’80s and early ’90s, the Sergio Tacchini tracksuit has been donned by such hip-hop juggernauts as Eric B, Rakim, Nas, The Notorious B.I.G, LL Cool J and Wu-Tang during the birth of the genre, whilst on the other side of the pond, it was (and still is) donned by football fans during the wave of the casual aesthetic. Sergio Tacchini’s beginnings, paired with LA-based Brain Dead’s ethos is a game, set and match made in heaven.

This unique collection has something for everyone, from a double hit of tracksuits fit for Tony Soprano himself, featuring bold check designs and rich embroidery. The Brain Dead head logo and the classic Sergio Tacchini logo have been fused together for this collection and can be seen represented on each piece in print or stitching. For a smart-casual vibe, there’s also a cotton-rich polo shirt in a rich blue, that has a mismatching chequered design with three different coloured bold stripes. For a Summer-ready flex, there are two variations of tennis shorts to choose from in blue and off-white, both featuring a comfortable elasticated waistband and side pockets.

This collection absolutely kills it on the accessories front, with two styles of towelled headbands perfect for releasing your inner Richie Tenenbaum, and four styles of chequered sweatbands to mix and match with; delivering heavily on sportswear chic. Update your sock situation from drab, neutral socks with the yellow and green chequered options, highlighted with the contrasting collaborative logo decorating the ribbed ankle cuff. The piece to this puzzle is a versatile, pool party essential; a nylon bucket hat in blue with a contrasting headband around the crown just in time for festival season.
